CHLOE LUI
Location: Siem Reap, Cambodia
Status: Under Construction
with Orient Occident Atelier
Siem Reap in Cambodia is not only famous for the site of Angkor Wat but also for its traditional home-made rice wine. Located at the village next to paddy fields, this hostel design aims to superimpose local Cambodian culture and process of rice wine making through a repetition of cylindrical forms that emulates barrels and flasks of brewing. The site was formerly a Cambodian police station and rice go-down in Khmer Rouge Period. The hostel illustrates the past, present, and future of lifestyle using local and modernized building materials and motifs.
